The Knights of Columbus, Chapter, 14079, hosted an awards ceremony and breakfast Saturday for local first responders in Soddy Daisy.
This year’s ceremony honored Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Detective Jodi Terry for his efforts to successfully investigate numerous sex crimes, felonious assaults and crimes specifically against children.
Detective Terry successfully investigated a reported incident involving inappropriate physical contact, which was sexual in nature, between an elementary school teacher and a student. During this investigation he was able to identify seven additional student victims.
Detective Terry graduated from the National Forensics Academy on June 9, and was selected to be a liaison with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation as a taskforce officer.
He is working to obtain a degree in criminal justice from Brewton Parker College.
In attendance were numerous community residents, elected officials, first responders and law enforcement personnel from throughout Hamilton County.
"Please join with us as we congratulate HCSO Detective Jodi Terry on receiving this prestigious award recognizing his service to Hamilton County and his investigative abilities, particularly as they relate to the safety and security of our community’s children," officials said.
