U.S. Army Veteran Served In 4 Combat Tours

Christopher Scott Merrell, 56, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.

Chris was a graduate of Lee Highway Christian Academy. He honorably served our country for over 14 years in the United States Army and served in four different combat tours as a sergeant. During his service, Chris was awarded the Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Lapel Button, Army Service Ribbon and the Sharpshooter Badge for rifle.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam and Gladys Merrell and Mr. and Mrs. R.C. and Ruth Thompson.

Left to cherish his memories are his beloved parents, Wendell and Nancy Merrell; sister, Sheri; nieces, Merrell, Jacqueline, and Emmerling.

There will be a private viewing for the family.

A graveside service for Christopher will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4, at Chattanooga National Cemetery, 1200 Bailey Ave., Chattanooga, Tn. 37406, with military honors and his uncle, Tommy Thompson presiding.
