Janice Dolores Edens Armstrong
Janice Dolores Edens Armstrong, who was born March 25, 1954, died surrounded by her loving family on Monday, October 21, 2024, in Daphne, Alabama, after a brief illness.
A native of Chattanooga, she was a member of Concord Baptist Church and a 1972 graduate of Tyner High School. At The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, she played flute in the famous Pride of the South Marching Band for four years, while earning a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. Jan enjoyed a career as a member of the staff of the UT Hospital where she started as a registered nurse and ended her career as a trauma nurse analyst. With an infectious smile, she was quick with kindness and encouragement for all who were fortunate to be her relatives and friends. After retiring from the UT Hospital, she moved with her husband to Daphne, Al., to be near her nephew and continue her role of cheerful support. She was a proud member of Coastal Church in Daphne.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Melvia and Raymond Edens; and sisters, Connie Edens and Lynn Edens Dillon.
She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Thomas Patrick Armstrong; nephew, Andrew Dillon; great-nephew, Wyatt Dillon; all of Daphne, Alabama; and several cousins in Chattanooga.
The family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the North Chapel with Brian and Sharon Wennerstrom officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
