Rose I. Simmons (Manning) passed away on the morning of Saturday, November 9, 2024, at the age of 84. Born and raised in Lookout Valley, Rose lived a life deeply rooted in faith, family and loving others.
As a faithful member of Peavine Baptist Church, Rose was known for her genuine kindness, strength and compassion. Her faith in God was a guiding light throughout her life, and she spent countless hours in prayer for those she loved. Rose’s joy was in giving, whether it was through a shared meal, an encouraging word or the warmth of her presence. An avid home cook, she delighted in bringing family together, creating memories and traditions that will be cherished for generations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marie and Gladston Manning; her beloved sons, Wayne Alan Simmons and Edwin Lebron Simmons; and her brothers, Bill, Tommy, Joe and Paul Manning.
Rose is survived by her husband of 65 years, Malvin Gene Simmons; her sister, Pat Snyder; her daughter-in-law, Jane (Barry) Gilley; two treasured granddaughters, Taylor Simmons and Alanah (Taylor) Wilkey; and her three great-grandchildren, Kinley, Jace and Jaden Wilkey, who brought her endless joy.
Family and friends are invited to honor Rose’s memory with a visitation on Tuesday, Nov. 12 from 4-7 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home South Crest Chapel. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 11 a.m., also at Lane Funeral Home.
Rose will be remembered for her selflessness, her love of family, and her unwavering faith. Her legacy will live on in the lives of those she touched and the love she shared so freely. May she rest in peace, held in the everlasting embrace of the Lord she served.
