Karla Joy Whitmire
Karla Joy Whitmire, 58, of East Ridge passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
She attended Lakeview H.S. and married her soul mate, Greg when she was just 18 years old. She worked at both Olan Mills and Lifetouch for many years and ended her working life at WTS Media in Chattanooga. Karla was an avid gardener and loved flowers. Her favorite pastime was spent with family. She adored her children and grandchild. She pursued many different hobbies over the years.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ronnie Mines, her mother, Evelyn "Luba" Edwards, and her step-father, Eddie Edwards, and her grandmother, Evelyn Thacker.
She leaves to cherish her memory; her husband of 40 years, Greg Whitmire, children, Sarah Whitmire and Blake Whitmire, and a granddaughter, Ivory Whitmire, sisters, Lillie (Donny) Boyd, Patricke (Mark) Luzier, and Aundria (Shane) Hume, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
A Celebration of Karla's Life will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, at One Accord Community Church, 343 Sweetland Dr., Chattanooga, Tn. 37415. The family will receive friends one hour prior beginning at 4 p.m.
