Chattanooga has several new restaurants and they have all been approved for permits to sell beer to accompany their food.
Daniel and Matt Lindley have opened 2nd American Restaurant at 1601 Cowart St. The menu is described as an homage to the American family meal such as Sunday dinners. The food will be “familiar yet refined traditional fare.” And all will be served with a communal bowl of mashed potatoes.
Hours are Monday through Thursday from 5-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday hours are from 4:30- 9:30 p.m. and Sundays from 4:30 until 8 p.m.
Scarlett Bowman is opening her third restaurant in the city. The newest, Scottie B’s, at 1814 E. Main St. will join Big Chill and Scotties on the River.
The restaurant is in a former Armando’s location, and will continue selling burgers and beer, but better, said Ms. Bowman. The eatery will also feature hand-cut French fries and onion rings. It will be a counter service restaurant where food is paid for when ordered so that only one beer can be sold to an individual at a time.
Occupancy inside is 75, and there is also a patio that can seat up to 24 along the front of the building and a small space for take-out orders. There is also music and TVs for watching games on Saturdays. Ms. Bowman told the board that she wants to become a hangout for the neighborhood.
Blue Moose Burgers & Wings is coming to Chattanooga at the end of November from East Tennessee where there are restaurants in Pigeon Forge, Alcoa and Johnson City. The Chattanooga location is 7035 Amin Dr, the former location of a Texas Road House on Shallowford Road. This restaurant specializes in jumbo wings and burgers and “tailgate food.” It will have a full bar and is considered to be a family friendly sports bar.
The social club, Fraternal Orders of Eagles, was approved for a beer license. It is located at 6130 Airways Blvd. behind Sam’s Club.
Three new convenience stores are opening and include Weigel’s #109, 1421 North Concord Road. Also given beer licenses were Hop In Express, a Mapco, at 4711 Brainerd Road and Patriot Express at 1227 E. Main Street.
A temporary beer permit was approved for the Heavyweight Chili Cook-Off that will be held at 326 E. Main St., in the parking lot of Office Coordinators from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. The event is part of the annual street fair MainX24 on Saturday, Dec. 7. The competition will start right after the parade ends, with 20 chili teams participating. Tickets can be bought in advance for the all you can eat event. There will also be beer and other drinks to buy and music. The chili cook-off will benefit Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga.
