U.S. Army Veteran Held Long Career With Chattanooga Funeral Home

David Lebron Thompson, 100, of Flintstone, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2024, in Cleveland, Tennessee.

Mr. Thompson was a faithful member of Flintstone Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army and was recipient of the Bronze Star. He began a career in funeral service after being discharged from the Army. Mr. Thompson was an embalmer and funeral director with Chattanooga Funeral Home since 1963 and had been active well into his 80s. He was a member of Rossville Lodge #397 F&AM, the Chattanooga Scottish Rite and the Alhambra Shrine.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Thompson, son, Leslie Thompson and a brother, Robert Thompson.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Linda Thompson.

He was affectionately known as “Goodah” to his grandchildren, Trudy Teague (Ethan), Jack Thompson, Patrick Thompson (Brittany) and Christopher Thompson (Carrie); five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday at Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m.– 1 p.m. on Monday at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road.
