David "Dave" M. Baxter

David "Dave" M. Baxter, 76, went home to heaven on December 2, 2024. He was born in St. Louis, Mi., and was one of 10 children born to the late Arthur and Anita Baxter.

After finishing high school, Dave joined the United States Army where he worked on Chinook helicopters and served in the Vietnam War. After the Army, he moved to Knoxville, TN where he met his beloved wife, Pam, and they were married 53 years. Dave graduated from Lincoln Memorial University and got a job with the Tennessee Valley Authority, in which they relocated to Chattanooga, TN. Dave worked for TVA for over 30 years before retiring. Dave loved to help others, do woodworking, socialize, laugh and tell his corny jokes.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Anita Baxter; brother's, James "Jim" (Madeline) Baxter and Gary (Ruth) Baxter.

Dave is survived by his wife, Pam Baxter; daughter, Sonja Baxter; son, Eric (Beth) Baxter; two grandson's, Bennett Baxter and Evan McDonald; along with sister's, Laura (David) Stensrud of Lady Lake, FL.; Ginny (Jerry) Plaxton of Lansing, MI; brother's, Bill (Karel) Baxter of Alma, MI, Ted Baxter of Charlotte, MI, Chuck (Bev) Baxter of St. Louis, MI; sister-in-law, Jan Baxter of St. Louis, MI; as well as cousins, nieces and nephews. Special recognition to close friends, Jack and Linda Boran, for their many meals shared together, trips and watching Tennessee football games.

A Celebration of Dave’s Life will be held graveside in the Chattanooga National Cemetery on Monday, Dec. 9, at 12:30 p.m. with military honors provided by the U.S. Army Funeral Honor Guard and the American Legion Post 95. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, Dec. 8, from 4-8 p.m.
