Dedicated Employee At TVA And Longtime Volunteer

Madeleine Light, 86, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.

Originally from Reading, Pa., Madeleine quickly became a southerner when moving to Chattanooga with her husband. Madeleine enjoyed giving back to the community and volunteered at the Tennessee Aquarium for over 10 years and Memorial Hospital for over 20 years. She was active for many years in a local bowling league and enjoyed socializing with her Dinner Belles group. She was a dedicated TVA employee for over 30 years winning employee of the year in 1987.

Madeleine had a strong faith and regularly attended First Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Franklin Light.

She leaves behind a daughter, Donna Deweese and son-in-law, Michael; brother, Greg (Ruth) Koren; and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road with the Rev. Ron Brown officiating. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 9:30–11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
