Dorothy “Dot” Marie Gaddis, 90, of Chattanooga, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.

She was born in Ponca City, Ok., to the late Melvin Hugo and Vera Hyde Wessel.

Dot was a 1953 graduate of Central High School. She had a passion for showing Saddlebred horses for most of her life owning many world champions throughout that period. In addition, she enjoyed showing and training many obedience dogs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Marion “Buck” Gaddis, and sister, Delores “Dodo” (Steve) Harvey.

Survivors include her son, William “Bill” (Linda) Gaddis of Chattanooga; daughter, Cathy (DeWayne) Bowman of Cleveland; three grandchildren, Caroline Shannon, Christopher (Katie) Byrd, and Rebekah (Kevin) Ramquist; and five great-grandchildren.

A private family graveside service will be held at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, in Hixson, with Dr. Bill Owens officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Saddlebred Museum, at www.asbmuseum.org; or the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
