Maxwell, Mary Butler Roberts

Loved Jesus And Lived Out Her Faith Daily

  • Saturday, February 10, 2024
Mary Butler Roberts Maxwell, 78, went to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 8, 2024.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Bob Maxwell; her parents, Reuben and Mamie Roberts; her sisters, Catherine Pipkin and Betty Porter; her brother, Richard Roberts; her grandsons, Spencer Maxwell and Nash Norris; and her great-grandson, Gunner Broome.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Guy) Broome; daughter, Stephanie (Jimmy) Norris; son, Bobby (Stacy) Maxwell; brother, Tom (Cherry) Roberts; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary loved Jesus and lived out her faith daily in the way she loved and served her family. Her family meant the world to her. She especially enjoyed the visits from the grandchildren. She enjoyed sitting on her porch, watching the kids play, the cows and chickens in the pasture, the geese on the ponds and the amazing sunrises coming over the mountain. Playing rummy, Scattergories, hangman, chess and working puzzle books were some of her favorite past times. She was an excellent seamstress and was always making jewelry and other crafts for friends and family, and to sell at craft shows.

Nanny will be deeply missed to all who knew and loved her.

The family will receive visitors from 1-3 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel (Hwy 153). Funeral service will follow at 3 p.m., with Pastor Brian Maxwell officiating and graveside dove release at 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Gideons at gideons.org to help more people discover the good news of Jesus and His love for them.
