The Chattanooga Division of Transportation announces the following road contruction, paving updates and new traffic pattern:
Construction Closures:
8th Street
8th Street between Market Street and Broad Street is closed effective immediately for multiple crane lifts. The estimated date of reopening will be Sunday, Feb. 18.
Major Closure Scheduled:
Wilcox Boulevard Tunnel
The Wilcox Boulevard Tunnel will undergo a quarterly inspection and cleaning on Thursday, March 14, Friday, March 15 and Sunday, March 16.
The exact times of the closure will be announced as the closure date approaches.
2024 Paving Season Update:
The City of Chattanooga in coordination with Talley Construction are taking advantage of favorable weather conditions to complete the following paving projects as part of the 2023-2024 Resurfacing Plan. No full closures are expected, but delays may be experienced as temporary flagging around single-lane closures occur. Portions of the following roadways will see paving and resurfacing work for the weeks of Tuesday, Feb. 13 through Friday, Feb. 16 -

*Note: Milling on both traffic circles will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 13, which will result in brief lane closures. All paving will take place within the traffic circles on Wednesday, Feb. 14 and Thursday, Feb. 15 between the hours of 9 a.m.-3 p.m. only to avoid rush hour and school traffic. These lane closures will be more extensive and may have brief moments of full closures to allow the pavement to set. CDOT strongly recommends using DuPont Parkway during these times to avoid additional backup.

New Traffic Pattern Notice:
Intersection of E. 32nd Street and Clio Avenue - New 4-Way Stop
An additional set of stop signs were installed on Clio Avenue at the intersection of E. 32nd Street to create a new 4-way stop. All advance warning signs are in place to alert motorists. Use caution as traffic acclimates to the new traffic pattern.
