Myra Yvonne Rivers was born on August 6,1964, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to Jonathan Peavy and Jo-Ann Taylor.

She attended Chattanooga Central High School where she served in JROTC. She was also a part of the drill team and chorus.

Myra gave her life to the Lord as a teen and became a member of St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church. In her younger years, she sang in the youth choir. As an adult, Myra worked in hospitality in various companies. Most recently, she worked for The Marriott Courtyard and The Westin hotels.

Myra had many hobbies. She loved listening to music and singing karaoke to her favorite songs. She enjoyed crafting and thrift store shopping. Myra was a writer of poetry and journaling. She loved to watch old t.v. shows and Hallmark movies. Her favorite thing to bake was sweet potato pie and she lovingly shared it with everyone.

Throughout her life, Myra’s kind spirit touched many. She was self-less and always ready to help anyone in need. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She touched many lives and she was always available when needed. Myra was a true blessing to our family!

She was preceded in death by her son, Nicholas Peavy; grandmother, Flister Taylor, and her father, Jonathan Peavy.

Myra leaves to cherish her memory her parents, James and JoAnn Harris (Rossville, GA); daughter, Brittany (Larry, Jr.) Maddox (East Ridge, TN); granddaughter, Kaiden Peavy (Chattanooga, TN); grandson, Larry Maddox III (East Ridge, TN); sisters, Carla (Trory) Finley (Jonesboro, GA), Stacey Peavy, Kasey Peavy, Tandra (Corey) Garrett (all of Ooltewah, TN), Vanessa Harris, Mary Peavy, Ernestine Peavy (all of Chattanooga, TN); brother, Richard (Stephanie) Harris (Dallas, GA); nephew, Christopher Finley (Chattanooga, TN) ; niece, Kennedy Garrett, (Ooltewah, TN); dear friend, John Rivers (Chattanooga, TN); a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be held from 9-11 a.m. on Monday, March 4, followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens.
