Ruby J. Smith, 83, beloved resident of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at her residence.

She was born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter Clark on August 2, 1940, in Dekalb, Ms.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; son, Jerome Hickman; four brothers, Robert D. Clark, Percy Clark, Willie C. Clark, and J.B. Clark; two sisters, Sadie Roberts and Rose Lean Cole.

Ruby will be remembered by her loving family: one son, Arthur (Barbara) Clark of Chattanooga; two grandchildren, LaWand D. (Juana) Clark, Sr. of Lawton, OK and Brandi Clark of Chattanooga; four great-grandchildren, Alexandria, LaWand, Jr., Nehemiah, and Naomi Clark; one brother, Roosevelt Clark of Meridian, MS; three sisters, Bessie Jean (Emmitt Lee) Brown of Meridian, MS, Ira Lean Jackson of Chicago, IL, and Wilma Scott of Milwaukee, WI; along with many nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.

She will be remembered with love and kindness. May she rest in peace.

Ruby will lie in state on Tuesday, March 5, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Minister Marvin Brown as the eulogist.

Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
