Unwavering Support For VW Unionization

  • Wednesday, April 3, 2024

As a former vice president of United Steelworkers D9 Local Union 15120 and current candidate for Tennessee State House District 28, I reaffirm unwavering support for the ongoing unionization efforts of Volkswagen (VW) workers.

Having served as a union leader, I bring invaluable first-hand experience and deep-rooted commitment to the cause of workers' rights and collective bargaining. Witnessing the transformative impact of unions in advocating for fair wages, safe working conditions, and dignity in the workplace, I understand the critical importance of union representation in empowering workers and strengthening communities.

Unionization at Volkswagen isn't merely a matter of policy - it reflects shared values and principles. It represents a commitment to justice, equality, and the recognition of every worker's inherent worth and dignity. By standing together in solidarity, workers and their allies uphold the fundamental right of workers to have a voice in shaping their workplace and their future.

In my view, fighting for workers' rights isn't just a noble cause - it's a moral imperative. As a Tennessee State House District 28 candidate, I pledge to advocate for workers' rights, championing policies supporting unionization and collective bargaining. Coonrod and Volkswagen workers aspire to create a workplace culture rooted in mutual respect, empowerment, and shared prosperity.

Together, let's stand in solidarity with Volkswagen workers in their pursuit of fairness, dignity, and opportunity.

Demetrus Coonrod
