Retired From Chattanooga Public Works After 41 Years

Gary Eugene Young, 74, of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024.

Gary was born on Nov. 21, 1949, in Chattanooga, to the late Gene and Imogene Young. He was retired from the City of Chattanooga Public Works Department after 41 years of service. Gary was a devoted NASCAR fan, enjoyed fishing, and loved animals.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Brenda.

Surviving are his children, Stephanie Renee Bruno, and Kevin Young; siblings, Gail Young, Dwight Young, and Deborah Young; and grandson, Jadon Bruno. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, plus a multitude of friends and neighbors also survive.

Funeral services will be on Thursday, May 30, at 11 a.m. at the Coulter Chapel of the Lane Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 3-7 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the veterans association of your choice in Gary’s memory.
