In honor of Juneteenth, The Unity Group of Chattanooga and Community Haven are partnering in the Youth Love for Literacy Festival and Book Drive. It will be held Saturday, June 15, from 4-6 p.m. at The Community Haven.
Organizers are asking community members to purchase a book, or books, for school-aged children and young adults from a list of titles about African American history and experiences, and those
pertaining to Juneteenth.
The books will be distributed during the Youth Love for Literacy Festival, as well as detail initiatives on how to continue to encourage reading and literacy with young people on an ongoing basis.
In honor of Juneteenth, there will be free admission to the Bouncy Park for young people between 4-6 p.m.
Community members may bring books to donate to the effort on Saturday, June 15, at The Community Haven, 815 N. Hickory St., or mail them to the Unity Group at P.O. Box 5441, Chattanooga, TN 37406.
