Sand Volleyball Fundraiser For Austin Hatcher Pediatric Cancer Set For July 27

  • Wednesday, July 17, 2024
The Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer’s Teen Ambassadors will host a sand volleyball tournament, the third event in the 2024 “Hit it for Hatch” fundraiser series presented by Tennessee Oncology, on Saturday, July 27. This family-friendly event will take place from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. at XSV Volleyball at 2705 Kanasita Dr. in Hixson.

Organizers said, "This unique tournament invites teams of coed quads to compete with a twist: any combination of kids, adults, boys or girls is welcome, though boys must hit from behind the 10-foot line.
It's a fun and inclusive way to enjoy volleyball while supporting families affected by pediatric cancer through the Austin Hatcher Foundation."

Participating in the tournament costs $140 per team, and each team is allowed one coach on the sidelines.

The tentative event schedule is as follows:
• 8:30 a.m.: Check-in starts
• 8:45 a.m.: Player's meeting
• 9 a.m.: Pool Play starts
• 1 p.m.: Pool Play ends
• 1:15 p.m.: Bracket play begins
• 5 p.m.: Tournament ends

The event will feature a variety of amenities, including cold drinks, snacks and merchandise for sale. Individuals and teams may register now here.

“Hit It for Hatch” events are part of the Austin Hatcher Foundation's Teen Ambassador Program, which engages high school students in the Foundation’s mission to erase the effects of pediatric cancer. Teen ambassadors created the “Hit It for Hatch” series as a way to combine their love for sports with fundraising and awareness efforts for the Austin Hatcher Foundation.

Officials said, "Building on the success of the “Hit It for Hatch” tennis event in January of 2023, the Teen Ambassadors decided to expand their reach, adding pickleball and volleyball tournaments to create a series of events for 2024. The 'Hit It for Hatch' pickleball event took place in March 2024, but there will be a second pickleball event happening on Nov. 16 as well."
