Big Ridge Caps White Divison Championhip With Win Over Aqua Tigers

With a dominance in participants, the Big Ridge Raiders wrapped up the Chattanooga Area Swim League White Division championship Monday, easily downing the Cleveland Aqua Tigers.

With a 54-43 edge in overall swimmers, including an 8-1 advantage in the two oldest divisions, the host Raiders posted a dominating 462-294 victory to finish the regular season with a 7-1 mark.

While CAT (1-6) still still has a home meet with the Cumberland Currents on Monday, July 8, Big Ridge will now prepare for the Bill Caulkins City Meet, which will be held at Fort Oglethorpe (Ga.) on Friday and Saturday, July 12-13.

Taking eight of the dozen age divisions, the Raiders lost the other four by just a combined 45 points.

Despite being down a swimmer, the Aqua Tigers sweep the youngest divisions, taking the Girls 6-Under 25-10 and the Boys 6-Under 26-6.

Cleveland got 15 points from Nathan Jossart and 14 by Palmer Blackmon, plus Logan Gregory posted 11 and Caroline Kate Elrod 10.5.

The hosts bounced back to take tight battles in both 7-8 brackets, winning the girls 26-22 and the boys 31-23.

In the girls races, Big Ridge's Maci Haustein and CAT's Stevie Rose McDaniel both garnered 14 points, while Raider Millie Hammang and Aqua Tiger Vilah McDaniel tied for third with seven points apiece.

While Cleveland's Kevin Curley topped the boys' action with 16 points, Big Ridge countered with 15 from Rowan Garver.
The Raiders had a 10-7 participant edge age bracket.

The teams split the 9-10 battles with CAT taking the girls by a 44-35 margin and Big Ridge the boys in a 48-31 tally.

With both teams putting a half dozen girl swimmers in the water, nine-year-old Aqua Tiger Reed Blackmon topped the tote board with 17 points, while Raider Haley Clark was the runner-up at 15.

Knotted in third place with 10 points each was Cleveland's Olivia Hughes and Blakely Martin, from Big Ridge. Aqua Tigers Lee Elliott helped out with nine markers.

The Raiders took the top three spots in the boys' battles with Noah Keener winning all his races for 19 points, while Gracin Smith added 17 and Evan Scharff 10.

Tying for fourth place were Big Ridge's Zeke Hammang and CAT's Mark Peterson with seven apiece, while Aqua Tigers Asher Cory and David Elder put up a half dozen.

The host swept the 11-12 action, taking a 48-31 girls battle and a 43-35 tally in the boys' play.

Despite Cleveland's Addie Taubert topping the girls tote board with 16 points, Big Ridge claimed the next four spots — Jade Skiba (15), Carling Smith (9), Caroline Coode (8) and May Kountz (8).

CAT's Sophie Hughe helped out with six markers, while teammate Maddie Peterson and Raider Libby Brown tied with five.

In the boys 11-12 Aqua Tiger Elias Eldred took top honors with 17 points, while teammates Teddy Elliott was third at 11, but the Raiders had the other four spots — Benson Wright (15), Hudson Ross (10), Ashton Conibear (9) and Bryson Young (7).

A Big Ridge 56-15 blowout in the Girls 13-14, included four double-digits tallies from Quinn Young (19), Sofia Mansueto (17), Vada Hammang (10) and Sarah Noles (10).

Cleveland's top scorers in the division were Carol Lynn Elliott and Seraphim McNeese with seven and six points respectively.

The final Aqua Tiger win came in the toughest clash of the day, taking the Boys 13-14 by a slim 43-42 margin.

The host took first and third places with Eli Haupert putting up 15 points and Alex Guo 11, while the visitors countered with 14 from Jaxon Moseley and 10 by Santiago Eldred.

Nic Tate (BRR) and Ben Condo (CAT) tied for fifth place with eight points apiece.

Dominating with an 8-1 swimmer edge in the oldest divisions, Big Ridge had a 53-0 shutout in the girls behind Kate White's "Perfect 19," plus 17 from Mille Watsona nd 13 by Addi Crowe.

The Raiders won the boys by a 56-8 margin as Logan Carroll had 19, Nathan Jungels 17, and Lander Smith 13, while Gavin Hamons provided all eight CAT points.

Big Ridge got 101 of its final 168-point final margin in the 15-Older brackets.
