Frances Lee Holcombe
Frances Lee Holcombe peacefully left our earthly home for one final adventure on the morning of July 3, 2024. She was shown love and care by friends, family, and the staff of Gentle Hands Home throughout the previous day.
Born in Jackson County, Al., to Vernon and Elora Lamberth, her family moved to Chattanooga where she resided the rest of her life.
Frances was known to her family simply as “Nana”. Throughout her life she traveled the world with the love of her life, Charles Robert Holcombe, Sr. They were married on March 14, 1964 that began a lifelong adventure as a homemaker, professional floral designer and mother of three children; Kelly Renee Spears, Charles Robert Holcombe (aka: Chuck), Jr., and Michael Wade Holcombe. Frances’ family grew over the years which brought countless moments of joy. These included the grandkids Mandi Pell Yother, Cody Ryan Pell, Cassandra Ashley Eldridge, Brittany Lauren Hill, Jaden Wade Holcombe, and Amber Briane Holcombe. Her beloved great-grandkids include McKinley Pell, Hattie-Mae Pell, Wilder Yother, Claude Edward Eldridge V, Kayleigh Marie Eldridge, Molly Elizabeth Hill, Kora Emberson Hill, and Mary Sam Elizabeth Holcombe.
Frances was known to be a spunky little woman with big opinions. At only 4’11”, you knew when she entered the room and when she left. With an adventurous spirit, she and Charles traveled to Australia, Europe, Mexico and even pulled a pop-up camper all the way to Alaska for three months. She enjoyed the arts and act of creating, which led to a lifelong passion as a floral designer. Many of her beautiful floral arrangements now reside among friends and family to cherish forever. She’s remembered for her love of God, family, Church, outdoors, and travel.
Frances attended Tiftonia Baptist Church where she found hope, community and support. She gave earnestly to the Church ministries to further the message of Christ in hopes all would hear HIS message and believe.
Frances is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren along with her sister Sue Harris and brother Robert Gordon Lamberth.
