John Wiley Cotten
John Wiley Cotten, 77, of Chattanooga passed away on July 7, 2024 after a brave fight against Alzheimer’s.
He was born on Dec. 26, 1946. to his late parents, and was an only child. John received an associate’s degree in Business Management and went on to work a career as a bailiff in the Hamilton County Court System for over 20 years. He and his father, owned and operated The Cotten Patch for over 30 years. Between his time in the court system and his time running the restaurant he made many enduring and lifelong friendships.
John enjoyed fishing, was an avid drummer and especially enjoyed cheering on his “UT Vols” during any sport they were involved in, whether it was football, baseball, or basketball. He was especially proud that he got to witness their first national title in baseball this past season.
John was predeceased by his parents, John William Cotten and Edna Harvey Duggan Cotten.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Veronica Cotten
A Celebration of John’s Life will be held on Thursday, July 11, at 1 p.m. in East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 10, from 4-8 p.m.
