The Planning Commission on Monday recommended approval for two projects along Ooltewah-Ringgold Road by developer Billy McCoy.
He is planning a single-family home subdivision with 119 lots on 78.4 acres at 2424 Ooltewah-Ringgold Road.
The location is north of Standifer Gap Road and by Houston Lane, which dead ends at the foot of White Oak Mountain.
Mike Price of MAP Engineers said access will be off Houston Lane, not Ooltewah-Ringgold Road. Two neighbors objected, saying it should go off the larger road.
Mr. Price said the developer plans to widen and improve Houston Lane on the section between the entrance to the development to Ooltewah-Ringgold Road.
A large wooded section at the rear will remain a "community lot" due to the steep topography, Mr. Price said.
The property is being purchased from Mark and Sabrena Smedley and Timothy and Tammy McDade.
The other project is on 28.1 acres at 3406 Ooltewah-Ringgold Road.
The subdivision will feature 34 lots.
