The Cleveland State volleyball team traveled to Snead State for their season opener, but couldn't bring home a win Friday night.
The Cougars were shutout 3-0, losing 25-18 in set one, 25-22 in set two, and 25-15 in set three.
"We went on the road tonight running an entirely new line up due to some injuries," head coach Peyton McDaniel. "That being said, we had girls step up to play new positions and overall, we had a good showing."
The team kept it close in the overall numbers, especially in game two where the teams were separated by just one kill and three assists.
Zowee Dillard led the way for the Cougars attack with a team high 12 kills and a game high 21 assists.
"Zowee Dillard had a big night for us, stepping into a setting role and still producing 12 kills," McDaniel said. "I'm proud of the effort our girls showed in the face of adversity and for fighting through the challenges. We look forward to getting back to work in our own gym."
The Cougars next game will be their home opener at Cleveland State this Thursday hosting Wallace State Community College-Hanceville with the start time scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
