Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp continues to support improving public school facilities with a list of proposed investments created in collaboration with Hamilton County Schools Superintendent Dr. Justin Robertson. Recently approved by the Hamilton County School Board, the facility project list reflects a shared vision to support public school students and staff by making necessary improvements across the county.
Additionally, County Mayor Wamp proposed allocations for $300,000 of equipment funding for the county’s volunteer fire departments, which was included in the fiscal year 2025 budget.
$2.3 million proposal for school projects:
Brainerd High School: $140,000 for roof repairs and ADA improvements
Daisy Elementary School: $30,000 for a playground fence
Hixson High School: $327,000 for vocational building roof and awnings
The Howard School: $685,000 for a building re-key and 600 ton chiller
McConnell Elementary School: $30,000 for stage improvements
Normal Park Elementary School: $30,000 for building brick repair
Ooltewah High School: $110,000 for roof repairs
Red Bank Elementary School: $130,000 for a partial roof repair
Sale Creek High School: $300,000 for gym floor replacement
Snow Hill Elementary School: $30,000 for exterior door replacement
Thrasher Elementary School: $500,000 for ADA playground improvements
$300,000 proposal for volunteer fire departments:
Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department: $60,000 for self-contained breathing apparatuses
Sale Creek Volunteer Fire Department: $60,000 for self-contained breathing apparatus loan support
Waldens Ridge Emergency Service: $59,000 for battery-powered and elevated rescue equipment
Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department: $48,500 for pagers
Mowbray Volunteer Fire Department: $35,500 for air pack bottles
Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department: $16,300 for vehicle plugs, elevated rescue equipment
Flat Top Volunteer Fire Department: $12,100 for building improvements
Sequoyah Volunteer Fire Department: $8,600 for AEDs and medical supplies
