Evelyn “Helen” H. Utrup went into the arms of her lord and savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, September 28, 2024. She was 93.

Helen was born in Whitwell, on April 22, 1931, to Edward Rollins and Nellie Morrison Rollins. In 1935 the family moved to Michigan where Helen grew up, graduating from Dowagiac Union High School. In 1953 she married the love of her life John L. Utrup. Together they raised two daughters, Deborah Utrup Arent and Karla Utrup.

Helen held a variety of jobs in her lifetime, with her favorite being as a certified nurse’s assistant. One of Helen’s favorite pastimes was playing the piano. Helen started playing when she was 4 years old and loved playing all of her life. She also had a deep faith in Jesus and attended the Soddy Daisy First Baptist Church.

In 2009, Helen moved back to Tennessee and settled in Soddy Daisy with her daughter Deborah. Later, she moved to Regency House assisted living in Hixson.

We thank the caregivers at Regency House for their love and support during Helen’s stay. We add our special thanks to Sharon, Thomas, Michaela and Renee.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Nellie Rollins, her brother, Wayne Rollins, her husband John Utrup and her daughter Karla Utrup. She is survived by her daughter Deborah (Gordon) Arent, a grandson Matthew (Ami) Arent, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

In accordance with Helen’s wishes, a memorial service will be held in Michigan at a later time.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Williamson and Sons Funeral Home in Soddy Daisy.
