Frank Luther Hill, Jr. aka Springtime, Fessor and Beetlejuice, was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on December 7, 1934, to the late Frank Nolan, Sr. and Viola C. Hill. He slept into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.

Frank was educated in the Chattanooga public school system and graduated from Howard High School, Class of 1952. He earned a bachelor of science degree in education from Wilberforce University in Wilberforce, Oh. He also attended Tennessee State University, Nashville. He was a proud, loyal, resolute, and devoted member of Kappa Alpa Psi Fraternity until his health declined.

Frank was a faithful member of St. Paul A.M.E. Chattanooga. He served as a trustee and Immediate past President of the Local and East Tennessee Conference Lay Organizations. During his younger years he held the following offices in St. Paul: president of A.C.E. League, secretary of Sunday School, and delegate to the District and Connectional Conventions.

Frank was a classroom teacher and principal at Hooker School, Hooker, until 1966 when the school closed and students were bused to the Dade County Schools in Trenton. He retired from Dade County Middle School, Trenton, in the late 80s.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Nolan Hill, Sr. and Viola C. Hill, ex-wife and mother of his four children Carrie Lee Copeland-Hill, grandson Brian D. Mosley, and great- granddaughter Saniah Hill.

Those left to cherish his memories are his devoted companion and caregiver, Mary Louise Ervin, Children: Ray A. Hill, Sr. and Tharyl Hill-Brown of Chattanooga, Frank L.N. Hill, III (Donna) of Hampton, Va., and Vickie Hill of Murfreesboro; bonus children: Michael Harden, Nashville, and Gerald and Ann Madden, Chattanooga; grandchildren: Michael Sims, Nolan Hill, Antonio (Kesha) Hill, Henry Lee Davidson, Jr., Shawn Mosley, Sr., Ray Hill, Jr., Benjamin Hill, Victor Davidson, Sr., Robin Brown, and Rebekah Hill; bonus grandchildren: Wendy Duroseau (Chris), Jalesa and Markita Madden, and Xavier Sanford; 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; seven nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.

Public viewing will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 23, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home. The Kappa Ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. A noon funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, at 2514 Williams St., Chattanooga.
