June Vaughn Ellis
June Vaughn Ellis, 87, of Chickamauga, Georgia, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
June was born in Chickamauga, Ga., on June 19, 1937. She was a long-time member of Chattanooga Valley Baptist Church.
June graduated from City High School in 1955 and ECPI with honors. She coached the church softball and basketball team for many years and has maintained lifelong friendships with the girls and women she coached. She loved playing golf with the wonderful ladies of the Brainerd Ladies League. June was very thankful for the Brainerd Women’s Golf Association and especially the seven ladies who introduced her to the game of golf, Evelyn Marie, Pat, Debbie, Julie, Lynn, Sylvia, and Shirley who were forever friends. Her family is finding peace knowing that June is in the presence of our Heavenly Father and will finally get her first and only hole in one.
June was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Robert Claude Vaughn; brothers, David and R.C., sisters, Lucille and Velma.
She is survived by her children, Brian Ellis (Eve), Jeffrey Ellis (Lisa), Judy “Sissy” Jackson; grandchildren, Brandon Ellis, Jennifer Roden (Arthur), Jordan Ellis (Dana), Laura Ellis, Austin Ellis (Tabitha), Chaney Grace Ellis (Tyree Jones), and Kassi Ellis (Josiah Sadek), her nine cherished great grandchildren, her sisters, Marion Smith, Shirlene Bottke (Rudy), and brother, Richard Vaughn (Angela), and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Flavia and Ronnie Fleming, Doris Willis, Evelyn Marie Williams, Susan Thurman, Pat Anderson, Peggy Humphries, Short Loveless, Kathy Lloyd, Pam Raper, and many others for their prayers and cards during this long battle. The battle is now over and no more pain. Throughout her battle, June always said that God is good ALL THE TIME.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
The family will receive friends from 1–3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, at Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory. A memorial service will follow in the chapel at 3 p.m.
