Mary Elizabeth Brindle, 77, of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her beloved family.
Born on Feb. 7, 1947, in Dalton, Mary was the cherished daughter and last surviving child of the late George Lester and Mildred Loraine Morehead Stephens.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 62 years, William Carl “Bill” Brindle, who passed on September 28, 2024. She is also preceded by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl Samuel “C.B.” and Helen Ruth Williams Brindle; her sister, Minnie “Dink” Vera; and her brothers, Robert Stephens, George Stephens, David Green, and Thomas Green, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bobby Brindle, Ronnie Brindle, Patricia Ann Patterson, Sam Culver, Vicky Brindle and Becky Brindle.
Mary was retired from Automotive Carpet Systems and a dedicated member of City View Church of God. A woman of unwavering faith and conviction, she never hesitated to express her mind with honesty and passion. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome, where no visitor ever left hungry or unloved. Mary’s heart for hospitality reflected her love for those around her, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Carl Andrew “Drew” Brindle and Marie Barrientos of Chatsworth, GA, and Samuel “Lee” and Christina Brindle of Tunnel Hill, GA; grandchildren, Ashley Brindle, Drew Brindle, Rose Brindle, Hayden Brindle, and Grayson Brindle; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Paul Dewayne Brindle of Dalton, GA, Wanda Sue Perkins of Rocky Face, GA, Connie Culver of Resaca, GA, Wynette and Gary Fuquea of Calhoun, GA, Jan and Dwight McElrath, and Harvey Patterson all of Rocky Face, GA; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Brindle will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 3:00 p.m., with Pastor Nathan Case officiating. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband at United Memorial Gardens. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Mark White, Christian Castillo, Don Tate, Robbin Stephens, Adam Holcomb, and Tyler McElrath.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel on Tuesday from 5-9 p.m. and again on Wednesday starting at 11:00 a.m. until the service hour.
