Ms. Brenda Carol Sandifer, age 73, of Cohutta, Georgia, passed away heroically on the morning of January 8, 2025, while trying to save her beloved family during a tragic house fire. Her unwavering devotion to her family and immense love for her grandchildren were defining aspects of her beautiful life. Brenda’s courageous spirit was matched only by her dedication to helping others through her work in the medical field.

Born on February 11, 1950, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Brenda was the daughter of the late Otha Pinkney and Lois Jane Sadler McCormick. She graduated from East Ridge High School in 1968 and later earned a degree in medical coding and billing from Virginia College in Chattanooga. Brenda devoted several years of service to Diagnostic Cardiology Group, where she was known for her compassion and professionalism.

Brenda’s greatest joy was her family. She cherished time spent with her sons, Jacob Sandifer of Cohutta, GA, and Toby Scott Sandifer of Powhatan, VA, and adored her grandchildren, Sadie, Samuel, and Sophie Sandifer. Her heart overflowed with love for all her family, including her daughter-in-law, Brittany Sandifer, and grandsons, Joshua Heath Sandifer, Jacob Thomas Lee Sandifer, Jr., and Legend Zion Sandifer, who passed alongside her in the tragedy. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Kane Sandifer with died, October 3, 2021.

She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Diana McCormick of Pensacola, FL; her sister and brother-in-law, Patricia Jane and Steve Perry of Atlanta, GA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever hold her memory dear.

Services to celebrate Brenda’s remarkable life and legacy will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel, officiated by Reverend John Ledford and Reverend Scott Byess. Brenda will be laid to rest with her loved ones at Ponders Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. Her family and close friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, and from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour on Saturday.

In honoring Brenda’s memory, her family wishes to express their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this time of grief.
