Billy James Smith, 87, of Hixson, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025.

He was a 20-year veteran of the United States Air Force. Through his many travels, he really loved Hawaii. He enjoyed getting out and doing something every day and loved family get togethers and reunions. Also, he was a big Alabama fan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Christina Barton; his parents, Henry and Velma Fuller Smith; three brothers; and six sisters.

Survivors include his son, Stephen Smith of Harrison; daughter, LaGeita Ingo of Paris, Ky.; step-grandchildren, Brittany Brannon (Bart) of Chattanooga, and Jeremy Lyles Jr. Cleveland; step-great-grandchildren: Taylor Brannon and Rylie Brannon of Chattanooga, and Kaitlyn Lyles of Cleveland.

Visitation is from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace. Funeral service will be held 12 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, in the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
