Judge Gary Starnes' court
In a previous article regarding the court's announcement, it was reported that American Legion Post 14 of Chattanooga donated the six service branch flags to the court.
American Legion Post 14 did donate, but several other veterans’ organizations and individual veterans also made contributions.
Those organizations and individuals are as follows:
American Legion Post 159
American Legion Post 257
Carbonero Base-submarine veterans
Vietnam Veterans of America 203
Military Officers Association of America (MOAA)-Chattanooga Chapter
Hamilton County Mentors 4 Vets
Freedom Sings
Chattanooga Unite-Mickey McCamish
Fort Oglethorpe Citizens Committee
Ray Mitchell
Josh Green-Veterans Administration
Chris Dooley
Ray Adkins
Alan Syler
The display of these flags during the Veterans Treatment Court sessions reminds the veterans of their service to their country and esprit de corps, a feeling of pride, fellowship, and dedication to mission.
A unique aspect of the Veteran Treatment Court is the veteran mentor. Each veteran participating in the court is assigned a veteran mentor to support the veteran.
Any veteran interested in taking on the role of a mentor should contact Alan Syler at asyler@epbfi.com.
