Diane Patton Bookout, 92, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025.

Diane was born in Chattanooga, on Feb. 26, 1932, the daughter of the late John Patton and Mary Elizabeth Hensley Patton. She was a graduate of Tyner High School, 1950. Diane was the Chief Financial Officer for her husband’s business, Central Plumbing Company for 42 years. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church. Diane enjoyed antiquing, crocheting, and was a talented seamstress and pianist.

In addition to her parents, Diane was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Chester May Bookout; a son, Timothy Herrell Bookout; and siblings, June Patton Kazy, Thayer Patton, and George Patton.

Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca (James) Byrns and a grandson, Elijah Byrns. Diane’s greatest joy was instilling her love of music in her precious grandson who is pursing an education to be a concert pianist.

Graveside and interment services will be on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 11 a.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to Hearth Hospice, 121 Battlefield Crossing Court, Ringgold, Ga. 30736.
