Mary “Susan” Scoggins McCain of Rossville, Georgia, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 9, 2025.

Susan was beloved by so many. She lived her life as a reflection the meaning of her name, Mary Susan- “Beloved Grace.” She was a beautiful daughter, devoted wife, loving mother, sister and “Nana.” Her heart overflowed with love and grace to others.

She had a way of making everyone feel special and welcome. She enjoyed singing, dancing and laughing with us all. Her hobbies included sewing, fishing and cooking. She would never let anyone go hungry-even if they had already eaten. She loved with her whole heart plus anything that could be put into a “to-go” container.

A few of her favorite things were lighthouses, the Sound of Music, birds, fashion, Footprints in the Sand, good stories, jokes that made her giggle, remembering dances from her teen years and making others feel loved. Above everything, her deepest prayer was that she wanted all her family and friends to know the Lord and to talk with Him daily.

Susan graduated from East Ridge High School. She worked at Buccaneer Yarn, Hutcheson Memorial, and retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee after 28 years of service.

Susan was a charter member of Westside (Cloud Springs) Church of God, Rossville.

Susan was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Robert F. McCain, her parents, Tom and Alma Scoggins, and sister Judye Graham.

She is survived by four daughters-Angela (Blayne) Waltrip, Melitta (David) Pettyjohn, Francine (Bobby) Slatton, and Dorain (Kevin) McNabb.

She leaves behind all of Nana’s babies-David, Joshua, Bethany, Kelsey, Jacob, Noelle, Justin, Noah, and Brianna and all of those that she claimed as her own-Danielle, Hayleigh, Brad and Jessie.

Her surviving siblings are Kay (Ken) Kelleston, Erbie (Shelley) Scoggins, Sherry (Steve) Keith, Rebecca Scoggins and Daniel Scoggins, her sweet aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and dear brother and sister-in-law, Lynn Crofts and Rebecca Crofts.

Her children rise and called her blessed, Proverbs 31:28.
