Lauren Colon will speak at the Chattanooga Area Historical Association's meeting this Thursday at 5:30 p.m., about the History of the International Towing and Recovery Museum in Chattanooga and the history of the towing industry as presented at the museum.
Ms. Colon is the executive director of the Museum. The museum was established in 1986 when a group of dedicated towing professionals, the Friends of Towing, decided to recognize outstanding individuals in the towing and recovery industry worldwide, record the industry's history, collect and display artifacts and memorabilia in a museum setting, and provide information about the industry to the public.
The meeting will be held at their new location at the First Presbyterian Church, 554 McCallie Ave.
"We will be holding our meetings in the Chapel which is easy to access (no steps)," officials said.
"Parking will also be easier and at no cost. Many of you will remember the Medical Arts Building and its parking lot; that building and the parking lot are now part of the church. For those who are not familiar with the area, the sanctuary is on the corner of Mccallie and Douglas; next to the church is a tall building, The Tower, and there is a small driveway between it and the larger building which is now owned by UTC. If you cannot find the driveway, call Marti at 423-595-4468; we will get you to the meeting."
