M. Sanford “Sandy” Hodges
M. Sanford “Sandy” Hodges passed away in a local hospital on March 18, 2025, due to complications from pneumonia surrounded by his wife, Michelle and friend, M.L. (Mary Lou) Drazich.
After enjoying a banking career spanning some 35 years which included working at SunTrust/ANB, Sandy retired as senior vice president from First Volunteer Bank. While at First Volunteer, he was honored in 2007 as Chattanooga Mortgage Banker of the Year by the Chattanooga Mortgage Bankers Association. Throughout his career, he received numerous awards as a top producer.
He is a 1974 Central High School graduate and earned his college degree at UTC.
Sandy will be remembered for his love of sport cars especially his 911 and Acura NSX. He was an avid reader; an articulate speaker; knew how to fix anything and could engage in a conversation on any topic; loved all kinds of music; never met a stranger and had a genuine interest in people. A devoted friend and a Braves/SEC football and NASCAR fan. Always the LIFE of the party, he loved to make everyone laugh and nobody did it better than Sandy. Laughter was his medicine.
He is predeceased by his mother, Betty Williams Rogers, sister, Kay Hodges Downs and his Golden Retrievers, Samantha Rose and Maxx.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sandra Michelle Hodges; friend, M. L. Drazich; Golden Retriever, Houston, a Shih Tzu named Topaz and numerous friends.
A celebration of his life may be announced at a later date.
