Dorothy Faye Lunsford, 89, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born April 30, 1935, in Kensington, Ga., a daughter of the late John and Mattie Cavender Tallent. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Lunsford, son, Howard Burke, grandson, Thomas Lee III, brothers, Lawrence Tallent, Clarence Tallent, Dewey Tallent, Jewel Tallent, Ernie Tallent, Bernest Tallent, sister, Gertrude Crump, daughter-in-law, Pattie Burke.
She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Clifford Burke of Sugar Valley, Ga., Thomas and Brenda Lee of Tunnel Hill, Ga.; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Sue and George Padgett of Calhoun, Ga., Karen Greene and Donney Messer of Dalton, Ga.; 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Dorothy Faye Lunsford will be held on Friday, April 4, at 2 p.m. at the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Brother George Padgett officiating. Interment will follow in the United Memorial Gardens with Joe Burk, Shawn Vanburan, Collin Baggett, Deklin Lee, Tanner Burke, Donney Messer and Clifford Burke serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. on Thursday.
