U.S. Navy Veteran Held Long Career With U.S. Postal Service

Eddy Joe Walker passed away on April 12, 2025, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Eddy was born in Coalgood, Ky., on Aug. 20, 1948, and moved to Soddy Daisy, when he was nine years old. Kentucky was his love, but Soddy Daisy was his home. He was a lovable, charitable, unique individual who was full of life, had a distinctive sense of humor, never met a stranger and was always willing to help others.

Eddy answered the call of duty early in his life, enlisting in the United States Navy and serving his country with honor and distinction for 13 years. Throughout his service, he was known for his leadership, resilience, and unwavering commitment to his fellow sailors and to the mission at hand aboard the USS Bennington & USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. Following his career in the United States Navy, Eddy continued to exemplify the values of integrity, service, and perseverance with the United States Postal Service for 42 years.

Eddy was preceded in death by his parents, Leander and Pauline Elder Walker, sister, Peggy Penny, brothers, Abe Walker, Benny Walker, Bevy Walker, Elton Walker, Jack Walker, Leon Walker, Lillard Walker and Norman Walker.

Eddy is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Marjorie Walker, son, Joel Walker (Christy), daughter, Amanda Baugh (Jeff) and his two grandchildren, Ethan Walker and Aubrey Baugh, brother, Jim Walker, many nieces and nephews and extended family.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16. Services will be at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Edward Stott officiating. Burial will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.

Pallbearers will be Jason Walker, Trevor Walker, Jim Walker, Jeff Baugh, Mark Jenkins, Jeff Perberton, Billy Scharton.
