Opal Cribbs Wheeler, 91 of Hixson, Tennessee, passed away on April 14, 2025.

She was a longtime member of Hixson Presbyterian Church. A longtime member of Creeks Bend Golf Club, she enjoyed going to Florida during the winters to play golf. Opal enjoyed playing cards with her friends and was fond of her flowers.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Una Mae Ballard; her husbands , Glenn Cribbs, and Steffie “Sam” Wheeler; and her daughter, Christine Horne.

Opal is survived by her son, Philip Cribbs; step-daughter, Janice Grosclose; her granddaughters, Jennifer Fryar, Ashley Cribbs, and Samantha Hood, and 8 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 21, at the graveside in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Rev. Robert Johnson officiating.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time on Monday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hixson Presbyterian Church.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn. 37343.
