CHICKAMAUGA, Ga. — Ranked fourth in Georgia Class 1A D-1, Gordon Lee posted its 29th win against just one loss with a 10-0, two-hit shutout over District 5-4A regular season champ Cleveland, Saturday.
Trojan hurler Aiden Goodwin faced just 18 batters, striking out eight and not walking any, needing just 62 pitches in the five-inning performance.
Gordon Lee jumped on top quickly, putting a trio of scores on the board in its opening at bat, including a two-run homer by JR Zeimet.
The Trojans rallied for four more runs in the bottom of the third with Jackson Scali starting the fun with an opening double before Peyton Groce drove him in with a single.
A walk to Ziemet before a one-base knock by Garrett Ross loaded the bags.
Groce scored and the other two moved up a base, on a passed ball before Ty Thompson drove in a two-run single to left field.
The home team ended the game early with three more scores in the bottom of the fifth without benefit of a hit, thanks to three free passes, a Raider error and a sac fly.
Cleveland's only hits came on game-opening single by River Briggs and a two-out one-base knock by Tyler Gardner in the second frame. Goodwin set the final 10 Raider batters down in order.
