Austin Hatcher Foundation Hosts LaCROSSe Out Cancer Game Saturday

  • Thursday, April 3, 2025

The Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer will host its third annual LaCROSSe Out Cancer game (presented by Food City) with the Lee University Women's Lacrosse team Saturday at the Ray Conn Sports Complex in Cleveland.

LaCROSSe Out Cancer is a collaborative effort between the Lee University Women’s Lacrosse team and the Foundation, aimed at supporting free mental, emotional and behavioral health services for families facing pediatric cancer. The event also serves as a diversionary activity and community event for children and families served by the Foundation, who will receive special recognition during the game’s starting lineup.

Since the inaugural event in 2023, the Lee University Women's Lacrosse team has played a central role in fundraising efforts through the Foundation’s Playing for Purpose program. In addition to their peer-to-peer fundraising, the team has created 57 special jerseys, each featuring the name of a childhood cancer patient, survivor or angel, to be worn by players from both teams during the game and auctioned off afterward. Bidding for these jerseys is now open.

“As a pediatric cancer survivor myself, the Austin Hatcher Foundation has played a big role in my journey,” said Lee lacrosse coach Megan Smith. “Our team is honored to have the opportunity to support the Foundation through LaCROSSe Out Cancer each year. Sunday’s game is bigger than lacrosse, and we are proud to be a part of it.”

LaCROSSe Out Cancer is made possible by the presenting sponsorship of Food City, as well as other sponsors Rock Bridge Community Church, Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics of Chattanooga, Business Water Solutions, Mix 104.1,  HealthScope Magazine, CityScope Magazine and Chattanooga City Lifestyle.

The Austin Hatcher Foundation provides a lifetime of free, comprehensive support to pediatric cancer patients and their families through mental, behavioral, educational, and social services, so they can cope in the present and thrive in the future. Learn more at www.hatcherfoundation.org.

The event is open to the public. Anyone may donate or bid on a jersey at https://one.bidpal.net/lacrosseoutcancer/browse/all. All proceeds go directly to the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer.
