  • Tuesday, April 8, 2025

Douglas Dwayne Hawk was born on December 9, 1947 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the third son born to Roy Eugene Hawk and Arkie Lorraine Self. He entered the glory of heaven on March 31, 2025 at 77 years old.

Doug came from a large family of 12 children and attended Bonnie Oaks Children’s Home for a handful of years. After graduating high school, Doug joined the U.S. Army. After Army discharge, he moved to California where he met his soulmate and wife, Joyce Hawk. Doug and Joyce raised their four children in California and were happily married for 56 years. Doug was an order administrator for Rockwell and an inventory control specialist for Pitney Bowes during his working years.

Upon retirement, Doug moved back to the area he was born and raised in living in Dalton and Cleveland. Doug was well-loved by family, friends, and neighbors due to his outgoing, funny, and loving nature. You could always count on him to tell you a joke when you talked to him. He fostered very close relationships with his kids and grandchildren, always one to spend time playing or giving hugs and love. To all his grandkids, he was lovingly called “papa” Doug was also a strong Christian and remained faithful to the Lord from late childhood till his passing relying on his faith during his biggest trials in life. Doug will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by three sisters, his daughters, Kim Goudy Martinez, Karrie Andrews and Amber Delgado, his 17 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Doug was preceded in death by his son, James Hawk in 2019, and his wife Joyce Hawk only three short months ago.
