Cedric Lebron "Big Ced" Josey, Sr.
Cedric Lebron "Big Ced" Josey, Sr., 51, passed away on April 28, 2025, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Born on December 20, 1973, in the same city he called home throughout his life, Cedric was a man whose presence was as strong and steady as the Tennessee hills that surrounded him.
A proud graduate of Howard High School, Cedric furthered his education at Job Corps in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he earned a degree in auto mechanics and welding—skills that would shape his professional path and reflect his passion for working with his hands. Cedric built a career defined by dedication and craftsmanship. He began working at Aeryson on March 7, 2007, continuing there until 2013. He also spent more than five years at Miller before concluding his welding career at Gestamp. In every role, Cedric brought not only technical skill but also a tireless work ethic and a commitment to excellence.
Cedric was the kind of man who showed his love through action—always working hard, always showing up, always putting family first. If you knew him, you knew how much he loved his people. His heart was big, and his loyalty unwavering.
He had a deep passion for cars; whether he was under the hood or talking about his next project, it was clear that automobiles were more than a hobby—they were a way of life. Music was another constant in Cedric’s world. It played in the background of nearly every moment: while working, relaxing, or just cruising through town. And when he had the chance to be out on a jet ski, that was his happy place—free-spirited and full of laughter.
Cedric found joy in the simple pleasures: grilling with friends and family, fishing on quiet days, or just hanging out with those he loved most. His presence brought strength and comfort to everyone around him.
Cedric was preceded in death by his mother, Genetta Josey; grandparents, Geneva Watson Josey and Eddie James Josey Sr., Hilda G Rakstawn Coger and Jimmy James Coger Sr.; aunts, Denise Gay Josey (Maurice) Thomas, Bertha Mae Josey Lansden, and Rachel Josey; and uncles, Walter Lee Josey and Eugene Josey.
He is survived by his father, Jimmy James Coger Jr.; his beloved son, Cedric Lebron Josey Jr.; his brother, Quincy Richardson; his sisters, Brandy Powell, Bambi (Deon) Moore, and Tamisha McGee; uncles, Eddie James (Michelle) Josey, Jr. and Charles E (Brenda) Coger; aunt, Diane Josey; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many dear friends.
The family of Cedric Lebron Josey, Sr. extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who has offered love, understanding, and comfort during this time of sorrow. Your prayers, visits, phone calls, and acts of kindness have been deeply appreciated. In the midst of heartache and pain, we have found peace in the Lord Jesus Christ. May God bless each of you.
