Mr. Gregory Alan “Red” Hancock, 74, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, departed this life peacefully on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the Health Center at Standifer Place.
Red was born August 29, 1950, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was a 1968 graduate of Howard High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Years ago, Red experienced a life-altering altercation that left him mentally handicapped. Despite the challenges he faced, he lived with dignity, strength, and a kind heart that endeared him to all who knew him. He was a longtime resident of Rose of Sharon’s Senior Villa, where he was cared for and loved by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean and George Lawrence.
Red is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Sherita Hancock; his cherished granddaughter, Amelia Hancock, all of Savannah, Ga.; brothers, Lance Knight Hancock and Keith Hancock, both of Chattanooga, and Jeffery Hancock of San Diego; sister, Regina Gale Hancock of Chattanooga, along with several nieces, nephews, and many cousins.
Inurnment services to celebrate the life of Mr. Gregory Alan “Red” Hancock will be held on Tuesday, June 24, at 10:30 a.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Reverend Denny Smith officiating.
