He was born on Sept. 6, 1936, and was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and Northwest Georgia area and was a member of Brainerd Baptist Church in Chattanooga. David was a very kind and gentle man who dearly loved his wife of 31 years, Karen, and his family. He and Karen loved traveling in their motorhome and especially enjoyed traveling with friends. David grew up around horses and loved riding. Around 1950, David had the unique opportunity to be an extra in a Davy Crockett movie filmed on Williams Island. He dearly loved his family and took great pride in his granddaughters. David was loved by everyone who knew him, and he will be greatly missed.

David was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Williams.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Karen Powell Williams; daughter, Stephanie (Tim) Reithmeier of Hixson; brother, Richard (Ruby) Barbee of Rossville; granddaughters, Abigail Wooten and Zoe Reithmeier; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Drenda Voiles; niece, Stacey (Tommy) Scoggins of Harrison; and nephew, Stephen (Jeri) Voiles.
