Patsy Ann Von Schaaf, 80, of Chattanooga passed away on July 1, 2025.

Patsy was born here in Chattanooga on Dec. 21, 1944, to the late James Luther and Edna Juanita Suits. She was a graduate of Central High School, Class of 1962. Patsy was of the Baptist faith and attended several area churches over the years, but due to her declining health she had not been able to attend church as of the last few years.

Patsy was a medical assistant for many years working with both Dr. Merrill Nelson’s office at the Campbells Clinic and with CHI Memorial, both at the main hospital and the North Park location in their Cardiac Rehab units. She was a lifetime member of the AAMA, the American Association of Medical Assistants and was a very active member.

Patsy enjoyed playing the slot machines in Tunica, Ms., and at Cherokee, NC. She was a music fan, but her favorite all time artist was none other than “The King” himself, Elvis Presley.

Patsy is lovingly remembered by her sister, Sandra Manis, her nephews and their wives, Jimmy Manis (Kelly) and Tony Manis (Terri), her niece and husband, Patti Owens (Corky), and her two step-grandchildren, Chase and Carson Von Schaaf, her special cousin, Diane Johnson, many numerous other cousins, great-nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Stanley E. Lewis, her second husband, Charles P. Von Schaaf, Sr., and her stepson, Charles P. Von Schaaf, Jr., and her parents.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 7, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A Celebration of Patsy’s Life will be held immediately after at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Tony Leonard officiating. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Charles in the Lakewood South Memory Gardens in Rossville.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Morning Pointe at Greenbriar Cove and to the staff of Hearth Hospice for the care that was given to Patsy.

Chattanooga Funeral Home East Chapel, 404 S. Moore Road, East Ridge, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
