Thomas Henry Belt, 88, of Chatham Heights Road in Martinsville, VA, died Sunday, April 24, 2005, at Blue Ridge Nursing Center, Martinsville.

Born in Pickens County, S.C., he was the son of James Thomas Belt and Minnie Elizabeth Kindley Belt, both deceased. He was a retired auto mechanic.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Goins Belt; eight sisters; and one brother.

He is survived by his wife, Mattie Crews Belt, of the home; son, James W. Belt of Chattanooga ; daughter, Judith Carol Pack of Martinsville; step-daughter, Texas Crews Young of Vero Beach, FL; sister, Janie Marie Crutchfield of Greenville, S.C.; brother, Billy Ray Belt of Easley, S.C.; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren ; five great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Smith officiating.

Burial will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens, West, Chattanooga.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. on Friday, at Chattanooga Funeral Home, East Chapel, 404 S. Moore Road.
