Ruby Hinton Eagles died on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 after a long and well-spent life. “How sweet is at evening after a long and well spend day, to close the eyes in slumber and rest from toll of a day.”
She was born to the late Russell and Eunice Hinton Sr. of Kensington, Ga., on April 27, 1932.
Sister Ruby Eagles accepted Christ at an early age. She was a former active member of Orchard Knob Baptist Church (Usher Board), and a faithful member of Christ Universal Temple, Chicago, Il. She was known for her dedicated work at the church and for her generosity for giving to the community.
She was a graduate of Howard High School class of 1954 and a retiree of the State of Illinois with 30 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas “Al” Eagles; parents; three brothers, Billy, Calvin and Ira Leon Hinton.
She is survived by a son, Miquel Eagles “unk a-d”; brother, Russell (Thelma) Hinton Jr., New York; sister, Essie “Hinton” Brown, Chattanooga; sister-in-law, Jo Evelyn Walker-Hinton, Chattanooga; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Harold K. Lester officiating.
