The Blue Bank Fishhouse, one of the most well-recognized properties at Reelfoot, has been open for 50 years.
Would you like to own a piece of history, or a lake view lot on one of the most unique lakes in the Southeast?
The historic Blue Bank Fishhouse and Grill on Reelfoot Lake, in Tiptonville, Tenn., is going on the auction block along with several Reelfoot Lake lots. The restaurant is owned by Mike Hayes who also owns the Blue Bank Resort. Hayes said his sons aren't interested in staying in the restaurant business, and he wants to expand his resort business. He says it was a tough decision, but they decided they needed to let the well-known Fishhouse go.
"I just celebrated my fiftieth birthday in August, and for every one of my fifty years Blue Bank Fishhouse and Grill has been a part of my life," he said. "Blue Bank (Fishhouse) was built by my father in 1958 and has been in continuous operation ever since."
For the tens of thousands of fishermen and duck hunters who visit Reelfoot Lake every year, it is almost a requirement to eat at the Blue Bank Fishhouse. There are a few other restaurants, but few with the long-standing reputation of Blue Bank. The restaurant will be going up for auction Oct. 16. The auction will also include 40 acres of prime lake view property that will be sold in several different tracts
Hayes said "This is the last large track of property left on Reelfoot and is perfect for commercial or residential development."
