Suspicious Fire Burns House On Arlington Avenue

A fire that was possibly arson heavily damaged a house on Arlington Avenue early Thursday morning.

Chattanooga firefighters responded to a house fire at 1515 Arlington Ave. around 2 a.m. The firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the bathroom and kitchen area, but the rest of the house sustained smoke and water damage.

No injuries were reported. The loss was estimated at $10,000.

The person renting the house had reportedly moved out a few days ago, and electrical service to the home had been disconnected.

Lt. Henry McElvain with the Fire Investigation Division said the cause of the fire appears to be suspicious in nature. The investigation will continue.
