University of Tennessee at Chattanooga wrestling coach Heath Eslinger added two signees to the Mocs recruiting class this week.  Illinois state champion Cody Minnick and junior college national champion Bryce Carr both inked National Letters of Intent to joins the Mocs in the fall.

Carr is a native of Dublin, Ga., and was a 2013 Georgia state champion at West Laurens High School.  He went on to Darton State College in Albany, Ga., where he was the 2015 NJCAA National Champion with a 36-1 record.

“We recruited Bryce out of high school and continued to follow him throughout his junior college career,” stated Eslinger.

“He has a chance to come in and earn a starting spot at 165 and will definitely help in our lineup next season.”

Minnick is a two-time Illinois high school state champion from Coal City, Ill.  He has a 185-10 career record, including 146-3 in the last three seasons.

“Cody is also going to have a chance to come in and compete right away for us at 125,” added Eslinger.  “It will be a tough battle to get into the lineup as a true freshman, but he has the talent to compete at this level immediately.”

Carr and Minnick join six other Mocs who signed NLIs in the fall.  That group includes Roman Boylen (Douglas, Ga.), Chris Dbien (Cleveland, Tenn.), Dominic Lampe (Lebanon Junction, Ky.), Zach Shareef (Woodstock, Ga.), Chad Solomon (Maryville, Tenn.) and Andrew Webb (Lilburn, Ga.).

All totaled, UTC welcomes one of its most talented incoming class in recent history with six high school state champions and four All-Americans.
